Ville De Lac Brome
What on earth is Radio Village Hall? A totally new idea, a unique broadcasting concept and project created specifically for the Townships community, right here in Ville de Lac Brome. Radio Communautaire Missisquoi (RCM), with devoted volunteers, has built a performance venue at 305B Knowlton Road in Knowlton (CIDI’s recording studios) ready to be wired to the world, positioned to send out messages of who we are and what we do.
RCM’s radio station, CIDI 99.1 FM with its global web portal www.rcmmedia.org, has been successfully broadcasting and internet streaming Townships life on a daily basis for the past three years. Radio Village Hall will be plugged into this network, feeding even more information about ourselves through press conferences, musical events and live programs to the rest of the world.
Oh, but to be a cat. Imagine. Lie about most of the day, be looked after, sleep, eat, play and if you’re lucky chase a mouse. Apart from the mouse thing, the cat’s lifestyle pretty well describes what most of us think would be a great existence, especially when we retire. The only thing is, we live longer than cats and if we were to live the life of “catty” we’d probably be dead before our time.
I’ve had friends of mine rub their golf clubs anticipating retirement. I guess they don’t like their jobs. Could it be lack of purpose, not understanding what it is they’re supposed to do? I dislike the expression “supposed to”. It’s on the same level as “one must”, “one should” and “be proud”. We don’t like being told what to do, but enjoy being smug about the little we know. Great! Where does that leave us?
Fortunately we’re left in a world of unlimited possibilities contingent on the will to change. With resolve one can achieve. Without it we suffer. Radio Communautaire Missisquoi is an organization willing to change and ready for change because we are being who we are; change itself.

Jacques Lecours has become the latest host of CIDI’s Around Town, sharing the duties with Dewey Durrell and Chuck Christie. The CIDI weekly show deals with topical issues, such as politics, business, the environment and the arts in and around the Town of Brome Lake.
As a town planner for 40 years Lecours worked for a number of towns and cities throughout the Laurentians and the Townships including St. Jerome, Lachute and St. Eustache. After years of renting houses for ski getaways in the Glen mountain region of Brome Missisquoi, he decided to retire in our corner of the Eastern Townships. Currently he is the chairperson of Rue Principale in Brome Lake, a project based on Mainstreets U.S. in the States. It’s a community-based revitalization program aimed at developing the downtown centers of Knowlton, Foster and Fulford.

Welcome, my name is Klaus and I cohost every Saturday morning “Children’s Corner” (Le Coin des Enfants) with Wioleta Leska. Writing and story telling have been a passion since early childhood. Writing short childrens stories on a computer is much more fun than working with a typewriter and many stories have been written and are awaiting publication. Some you will hear at 8:00am on CIDI.
I was born and raised in Germany. I became a successful electrical contractor in Montreal. Now semi retired I pursue a lifelong dream of writing stories for children.
