The RCM/CIDI website has not been updated for the better part of a year. This is because the site needs to be re-designed and upgraded with new software. RCM/CIDI will be updating the site, hopefully, in the next few months. We recognize that many of our customers find this extremely inconvenient: we apologize for this situation.
Following the Hydro failure on the morning of 16th January, CIDI lost its transmission capabilities from the Patch Hill Tower. Thanks to the rapid intervention of the CIDI employees and volunteers Justin Cuplinskas, Nathaniel Fraser and Dewey Durrell, and the support of Pippin Technical of Saskatoon, full transmission was restored at 16:00 on 20th January.
The Annual / Special General Meeting of RCM Inc., was held in “The Hub”, 305B Knowlton Road, Knowlton on 23rd November at 7:00 pm.
The minutes of the meeting are available by clicking on the link below:

Some will say : ” Users, Payers! “. Sorry but that is having a very shortsighted view of things. For RCM last November was one of our best web month, lots of our activities were reflected on the web (Piano competition and other events). We had 188,000 pages opened and 688GB of data transfers (videos, radio shows, etc…).
Following the new proposals it could have costs you, visitors, and us, $2,752.00 just to discover a facet of our local creativity hive, at least the one we could showcase. Those proposals to the CRTC were submitted by big distributors such as Bell and other telecoms, I feel it to be more a “tax” on interest they don’t control (bandwidth used on other resources), or a deterrent on what they aren’t ready to offer, to benefit only themselves. If those funds were to be used to better our accesses and develop new user oriented services, it would be an improvement but I don’t see anywhere such a plan. Canada is large, geographically very large, the web allows to fill the gaps, any improvement in that field will be a benefit to local economies. So, why put a cap?

Former Brome County News editor creates It Gets Better video
It gets better. That’s not a cliche — it’s the truth, according to Eleanor Brown, a former editor of both the Brome County News and the daily Sherbrooke Record who has written, recorded and posted a video for the It Gets Better campaign. The project aims to reassure bullied gay and lesbian young people that they can survive high school, especially teens living in the Eastern Townships.
“Young people need to know that there are adults and other teens, gay and straight, who will be there for them,” said Brown. “Look around, ask for help. Keep asking for help — because you will find someone who will help you.”

A question that was asked the other day by a friend, ” What is Art?”. I told him that’s a hard question and is hard to answer. Well I did state that art was an expression of ones passion and who they are. Then it clicked. What we are doing at CIDI and RCMMedia is a door to our media and culture. I have this feeling that we are more then a radio station. We are a community needing something more then just a a few hosts telling the weather, time and what song is coming up next. At this moment the baby is just starting to walk and that baby is the radio station CIDI which is in the heart of Brome Lake. When I started my internship here at the station I was expecting difficulty finding my comfort zone. Well, I found that in the past weeks and believe that if we get a community together then we could be something more than just any other radio station out there. We are the art that is unique and is developing into something meaningful that brings us all together and that is the community radio station CIDI.
Now there is a new show coming around prime time. I can not say when it will be on but do know that the purpose is to get our local musicians known and to show that they are just as good or even better than what you hear on the top 40 stations that are controlled by record companies.
To put it simple I hope after our test period you will have a listen to CIDI 99.1 fm and see what we have to offer you and the rest of the community in the townships.

CIDI is now transmitting from its new tower on Patch Hill.
Our geographic broadcast area is regulated by Industry Canada.
CIDI’s frequency of 99.1 is “protected” within the geographic area around Patch Hill, with its circumference being approximately Farnham, Bedford, Frelighsburg, Sutton, Knowlton, Foster, Fulford, Shefford and Granby (south). All towns and villages within that approximate circle should be receiving our signal, for example, Cowansville and Bromont.
“Protection” means that within that area, no other signal can, or should, be heard on our frequency.
